Located between mountains and the beach in Piedmont (12 miles east of Raleigh), Wendell boasts of its long summers and mild winters. Since 1903, Wendell has changed from a town encompassing an area one half mile square to two square miles with private and public schools, a library, recreational facilities, a retirement community, and shopping centers. Today Wendell has a population of 3,946 and has proven to be the "home of progress and opportunity."
